Kelham Island Walks

  1. Kelham Island Walks is a trading name of Anders Hanson who can be written to at Apartment 48, Millau, 2 Kelham Island, Sheffield, S3 8RD, or alternatively by email to anders@kelhamislandwalks.com.

  2. Real Sheffield Walking Tours may also be used for some activities. Any reference in these terms and conditions and privacy notice to Kelham Island Walks also applies to any activities or events organised, advertised and booked as Real Sheffield Walking Tours.

Pricing

  1. All regular walking tours are priced at £10 per person per walk. These are for walks whose dates are advertised on the Kelham Island Walks website and must be paid online in advance.

  2. Private walks arranged for dates not publicly advertised cost a minimum of £100 for each group of up to ten people, with a charge of £10 for each additional person. This applies to walks that that are scheduled to last for up to two hours. Special prices will apply for longer walks which will need to be agreed in advance before a booking is confirmed, this may include covering the cost of lunch/dinner for the guide where the group is planning to eat during the walk.

  3. Where a private group includes 25 or more people the numbers taking part must be agreed in advance with Kelham Island Walks. In some circumstances it may be necessary to split the group.

On the day

  1. The meeting point will be outlined in all booking information and it is the duty of all walk participants to ensure they are at the correct location at the date and time specified and have given their name used on the booking to the guide. We recommend arriving at least ten minutes early. We always endeavour to leave on time and cannot guarantee we will be able to wait for late arrivals.

  2. Walks are rarely cancelled and it is your duty to ensure you arrive suitably dressed for the day.

Cancellations

  1. Once a booking for a regular tour has been made no refund will be available to the customer. However up to 48-hours before the start time for the walk, an alternative date may be offered subject to space being available and at the discretion of Kelham Island Walks. If excess tickets are accidentally purchased, Kelham Island Walks must be informed by email within 24-hours of the ticket being purchased.

  2. If Kelham Island Walks has to cancel a walk, or it must be cut short for exceptional reasons (such as ill health of the guide or a participant) then a full refund will be offered or the customer can choose to re-arrange the walk for an alternative advertised date, subject to space being available. Walks are rarely cancelled even in poor weather, but a judgement will be made on the day.

  3. Kelham Island Walks reserves the right to request full payment 7 days in advance of a private walk.

Liability

  1. Everyone who takes part in a walk is responsible for their own health and safety and making sure they only cross a road when it is safe to do so. Some parts of a walk may involve entering private property where doing so is at the risk of the participant. Kelham Island Walks, the guide and property owners/tenants cannot be held responsible for any accident, damage or loss that takes place. A risk assessment and copy of relevant insurance is available on request by emailing anders@kelhamislandwalks.com.

  2. Kelham Island Walks reserves the right to alter the route and content of a walk at any time, including any content outlined in any advertising or on the website.

  3. Access to a specific building, venue or event cannot be guaranteed as these are not owned by Kelham Island Walks and therefore beyond their control. If access has been arranged as part of a private walk and it subsequently becomes unavailable, Kelham Island Walks will inform the main group organiser of this as soon as they are aware and alternative arrangements offered. If these arrangements are not satisfactory to both parties then cancellation and a full refund may be offered at the discretion of Kelham Island Walks.

  4. Kelham Island Walks are not liable for the content of any external links provided from this website, or for any recommendations of other venues, organisations or companies, all of which was also correct at the time of publication.

  5. Any mention of other organisations, business or people on this website does not imply they are endorsed by Kelham Island Walks, or that they endorse or are involved with the organising of Kelham Island Walks. Kelham Island Walks is not connected to Kelham Island Museum.

Gift vouchers

  1. Gift vouchers are available that can be redeemed against the cost of a walking tour. All gift vouchers should be redeemed online using the discount code provided at the time of purchase.

  2. Gift vouchers for one or two people can be redeemed against the cost of any walking tour advertised on the Book a Walk page on this website. They cannot be redeemed against the cost of a private walking tour.

  3. Gift vouchers for private walking tours cover the cost of up to ten people. Any additional people can be booked onto a private walking tour subject to payment of an additional £10 per person. All private walking tours should be arranged by emailing anders@kelhamislandwalks.com with details of the preferred date and time. Any date will will need to be mutually agreed and no date can be guaranteed until confirmed in writing by Kelham Island Walks.

  4. There is no expiry date on the gift vouchers.

Privacy NOTICE

Collection of personal data

  1. Kelham Island Walks only collects the following personal data:

    • Name

    • Email address

    • Phone number

    • Date of any bookings on to walking tours

    • General geographic data e.g. the town in which someone lives or the first part of their postcode

  2. Personal data is collected in the following ways:

    • Completion of a ‘join the mailing list’ or ‘subscribe to our newsletter’ box on the Kelham Island Walks website

    • Supplied by a customer via email, phone or in person for a purpose outlined clearly in the email or conversation. If a person supplies their data verbally they will be asked to confirm in writing or via an online link that they wish their personal data to be retained by Kelham Island Walks.

    • Supplied by a customer whilst booking a place on a walking tour.

  3. Personal data will be stored electronically using secure online systems. Marketing and newsletter services are provided by Mailchimp. All online bookings and card payments are processed by Eventbrite and full card details are never shared with Kelham Island Walks. The website is hosted by Squarespace. Kelham Island Walks’ email account is supplied by Google. Gift voucher sales are processed by GiftUp and PayPal. Data related to private walks or essential organisational contacts are stored in a file held on a Dropbox account. All these companies have their own privacy notices that are available to view online.

Use of data

  1. Personal data will only be used and retained for as long as it is required and for the specific purpose that was outlined at the time it was supplied.

  2. Personal data collected as part of booking a tour will only be used to contact someone with regards to their specific booking, and will not be used for marketing purposes unless specific permission is given. It will also be retained for the purposes of Covid-19 contact tracing where this is required by government.

  3. You may instruct your details to be removed from the records of Kelham Island Walks at any time except where it must to be retained by law. You can unsubscribe to marketing emails and the newsletter by clicking on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of a marketing email and following the instructions. To be removed from all records please email anders@kelhamislandwalks.com.

  4. No personal data will be shared with anyone outside of Kelham Island Walks unless specific written permission is given by the data subject.
