private walkING TOURS

One of the best ways to see Kelham Island is through a private walk. Advantages include:

  • You can pick a date and time that works best for you (assuming it’s not already booked and the guide is available). At least two month’s notice is ideal

  • The regular Kelham Island walk is a highlights tour but a private walk can be tailored more to your specific interests - examples can be seen below

  • You can be invoiced and do a bank transfer instead of paying via Eventbrite

Kelham Island Walks has run walks as part of wider events, conferences and visits from groups such the University of Sheffield, Heritage Open Days, Huddersfield Civic Society and Sheffield Museums, as well as part of birthday visits and away days. If you would like to arrange something then get in touch. Introductory talks on the history of the area in advance of your visit can also be arranged. To find out more send an email to Kelham Island Walks by clicking on the button below.

For a two-hour walk, there’s a minimum charge of £100 for up to ten people, and then £10 a head for each extra person after that.

WHAT PEOPLE on private tours SAY ABOUT KELHAM ISLAND WALKS

We would highly recommend a walking tour of Kelham Island with Anders. It is a great opportunity to discover the history and see the city in a whole new light. We thoroughly enjoyed hearing the fascinating stories of the people from Sheffield’s past.

specialist TOPICs

The usual Kelham Island Walk covers the highlights, but if you’re interested in a particular subject then this can be arranged as part of a private walk. Topics for walks so far have included the following, but do get in touch if there’s something different:

  • Architecture

  • Regeneration, planning and how the area is changing now

  • Street art and local artist studios

  • Neepsend - a walk of this area across the river from Kelham Island is currently being developed but elements of it can also be included in a private walk

  • City centre - walks including highlights of Sheffield city centre can be arranged. If these are to be included alongside a walk of Kelham Island then a price will need to be negotiated due to the additional distance and time involved

  • Access to specific venues - Kelham Island Walks has good links with many of the businesses and venues around the area and may be able to arrange access if requested
